OptimalWork Challenge
The OptimalWork Challenge is designed to help you engage in a meaningful way with the tools and content of the program, as well as with other campus resources. You can earn points by watching course videos, completing Golden Hours, listening to Audio Shorts, taking Inventories, and visiting with OptimalWork coaches or Academic Success staff. Our data shows that overall, students who use OptimalWork effectively have more fulfilling and successful academic, personal, and emotional lives. Our hope is to encourage you to make use of this UD-provided resource for your personal benefit, and for the benefit of all whom you encounter--and maybe win some cool prizes, too!
1. Build your team.
By 10 PM Friday, November 15th, use the below form to input your team information. Each team can have a maximum of 10 people. Alternatively, you can sign up as an individual, and still be eligible for the raffle. When you fill out the form, please use the email associated with your OptimalWork account (this should be your UD email).
Note: If you have forgotten your OptimalWork password, just hit the “forgot password” button on the login page. If you do not have an email invitation from OptimalWork for a UD account, email Dr. Spring at mspring@udallas.edu. But first please search your email for invitations from OptimalWork.
2. Accumulate points.
Your team will begin accumulating points by using various OptimalWork tools and resources starting Friday, November 1st. You will continue accumulating points through 11:59 PM Saturday, November 30th. You will receive weekly email updates regarding your team’s progress and brief periodic emails highlighting some of the central resources on the platform. BE SURE TO NOTE that meetings with OptimalWork Peer Coaches count for 20 points! The full point breakdown is below:
Points Breakdown
Previously watched Masterclass, Overcoming Anxiety, or Coaching Class video (prior to November) | 1 point |
Freshly watched Masterclass, Overcoming Anxiety, or Coaching Class video (in November) | 2 points |
Golden Hours (Maximum of 4 / day / participant counted) | 10 points |
Audio Shorts | 1 point |
Inventory (maximum of one/week per individual) | 5 points |
Meet with an OptimalWork peer coach to build a Project (maximum of two meetings will count towards points per individual) | 20 points |
Note: If you have already completed a course/courses, you can either choose to restart
the course, or simply keep going where you left off. The Challenge Coordinator will
track courses, Golden Hours, and Inventories based on your progress in the program
as of 12:00 am, Friday, November 1st. Even if you are late to sign up, your point
tally will begin from the 1st of the month.
3. Win prizes!
The teams with the most points at the end of the challenge will be contacted to schedule their event. Every individual participant in the OptimalWork Challenge who earns at least 100 points will be entered in a raffle for three $50 Amazon gift cards. This raffle will account for the number of points accumulated by each individual, whether you were on a team or not. Winners will be announced in an email to all OptimalWork Challenge participants, and instructions to redeem prizes will be provided at that time.
There will also be a raffle for three $50 Amazon gift cards for the individuals on the top three teams.--so long as those individuals earned at least 100 points over the course of the challenge.
We will update this website soon with the incentives we have collected for team prizes. Thus far, we have planned a curated experience with the new Irving campus Forno; Brunch at Monaco in Las Colinas with Professor Kaisersatt (Team of 3-5 students); Brunch at Monaco in Las Colinas with Dr. Churchill (Team of 3-5 students); a Chipotle Party with Ms. Judith Barrera; Coffee with Chief Greene (complete with stories of "Life on the Blue Line"); a Perot Museum Trip with Mrs. Henriquez; or UD Microbrews from Dr. Cody (21+ only).
Special Tips:
For a Golden Hour to count in the system, it must be done through the modules on OptimalWork.com AND you must complete a break at the end of each Golden Hour.
To help you track yours and your teammates’ progress on completing course videos, you can create a Group on OptimalWork.com. This might be done best by the Team Captain. Go to the Masterclass page and select the Groups tab at the top of the page. Select + Start Group. Add the email addresses of all team members and send the invite to join the Group. You can also use the Group chat function below the progress bar to encourage team members to complete videos or send notes about videos you particularly liked or learned from.
Participation in this challenge is voluntary, but we hope that participants will enjoy the challenge of the competition, and that they will benefit from all of the resources the OptimalWork program has to offer and from the growth that it inspires. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Henriquez at sahenriquez@udallas.edu or sign up for an appointment.
