UD's Project Management Essentials certification preparation course has been designed to help you pass the CAPM exam on the first try. This 8-week course is taught by Patt Chowdhury, MBA, MM, PMP®.  It combines expert instruction with the CertWise® Essentials of Project Management training materials and meets the 23 hour education requirement for the CAPM exam. Our course will help you master the required material and stay on track for success on the CAPM exam.

Patt Chowdhury, MM, MBA, PMPPatt Chowdhury, MBA, MM, PMP®  
Patt Chowdhury is Managing Principal at Patt Chowdhury Advisors LLC, a consulting firm offering program and project planning, business research, and training. She is an experienced marketing executive and senior manager with extensive experience in program and project management, marketing operations, product management, process development, and information technology at iconic Fortune 500 brands, including American Airlines, Sabre, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Hewlett Packard, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise managing worldwide programs generating annual revenues of as much as $1 billion.

As a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PMI Dallas Chapter, she is Vice President of Programs, overseeing more than 80 events a year that provide project managers networking and professional development opportunities. With more than 4,500 members, it is one of the largest chapters in the world. Patt is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP ®), a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®), earned a certificate in Product Management from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and is a Six Sigma Belt Black.

Patt has been an adjunct faculty member at The University of Dallas for 26 years and teaches marketing and management courses in the Gupta College of Business and project management in the UD Executive Education department. She holds a Master of Management degree in Telecommunications Management, and an MBA in International Management from The University of Dallas. Patt holds a BS in Business Administration, with a major in Marketing, from the New York Institute of Technology. Patt is also a doctoral student in Adult Learning and Workforce Development at the Northwestern State University of Louisiana.

Patt is a recipient of the 2018-2019 Gupta College of Business Adjunct Faculty Excellence award and the Adjunct Faculty Achievement Award in 2006 for online course development and teaching excellence. She was a key member of the team that developed and launched the very successful online MBA program for The University of Dallas. Patt was born in Boston, grew up in the New York City suburbs, and lives in North Texas.

This program is held in an online format with 8 online live sessions led by our instructor in the University's LMS. Students attend online sessions for lecture and discussion, and will complete assigned work on their own between live sessions.

EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION TUITION RATES:

Students can qualify for an early bird discount by completing the registration process (including payment) by the early bird deadline. The early bird period ends 30 days from the start of the class. To qualify for the early bird discount, students must fill out and submit the online application form and submit payment before the early bird deadline (see registration deadline section for deadline information).

OTHER DISCOUNTS: The University offers discounts to UD Alumni and Students, UD Employees, Government Employees (federal and local), US Veterans, and PMI or PMI Dallas Chapter members. To qualify for the discount, students must provide an active .edu or .gov email, UD ID, or membership number.

The maximum class capacity is 20 students. We reserve seats in class on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure a spot in the course, you must fill out the online application form and submit your payment. Application forms without payment do not guarantee a spot in class.

  • Payment Arrangement: We have a payment arrangement option for students who need a little help. This option divides Tuition into multiple payments. Executive Education students who wish to participate must complete and fill out the Payment Arrangement section of the application to enroll in this option.

How payment arrangements work: Payments are billed monthly. You submit the first payment when you sign up for the payment arrangement. You can make all subsequent payments before the due date. The University must receive all payments in the agreement before releasing any certificate or transcript.

PAYMENT ARRANGEMENT DUE DATES:

Your first payment establishes your payment schedule. It is highly recommended you submit your first payment immediately to secure your space in class. The last day you can submit your payment is 10-days prior to the class's start date. The list below shows the payment due dates based on the first payment.

  • April payment arrangement: An April payment arrangement has three payments. The first payment of $549 is due before the end of the month. The second payment is due by May 30, and the final payment is due June 30, 2024.
  • May payment arrangement: A May payment arrangement has three payments. The first payment of $549 is due before the end of the month. The second payment is due by June 30, and the final payment is due July 30, 2024.
  • June payment arrangement: A June payment arrangement has three payments. The first payment of $549 is due before the end of the month. The second payment is due by July 30, and the final payment is due August 30, 2024.
  • July payment arrangement: A July payment arrangement has three payments. The first payment of $549 is due before the end of the month. The second payment is due by August 30, and the final payment is due September 30, 2024.
  • August payment arrangement: An August payment arrangement has three payments. The first payment of $549 is due before the end of the month. The second payment is due by September 30, and the final payment is due before October 20, 2024.
    • To qualify for the early-bird rate your first payment must be received by August 10, 2024.
  • September payment arrangement: A September payment arrangement will consist of two payments. The initial $549 payment immediately. The second payment of balance by October 20, 2024.
    • Initial payment must be made by September 1, 2024.

  • Eligibility Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent + 23 hours of PMI-approved project management education
  • Number of Questions: 150; Included in the 150 questions are 15 pretest questions that are not graded and used as a test set for future exams.

 The 15 PDUs can be further broken down as follows:

  • Minimum of 9 Education PDUs
  • Maximum of 6 Giving Back PDUs

Education PDUs for all 15 required PDUs can meet the requirement, however a minimum of 2 PDUs for each Education-related skill: Technical, Leadership, and Business is needed then you can complete electives to earn the remainder of their Education PDUs.

For CAPM holders who want to pursue Giving Back PDUs, can earn a maximum of 2 PDUs for working as a professional (not required), and up to 6 PDUs for volunteering or creating content.
