University Announces Assistant General Counsel

IRVING, TX (Feb. 2, 2023) — The University of Dallas has appointed Luciana Hampilos assistant general counsel. Hampilos, who served as the university’s Director of the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX since 2020, began her new role on Jan. 26.

Prior to UD, Hampilos served in a number of positions in the federal government. She served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Reed C. O’Connor of the Northern District of Texas and a presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights in Washington, D.C. 

“It is a unique privilege to live out my vocation as a lawyer in an environment that is shaped by the long tradition of Catholic learning and acknowledges its commitment to the Catholic Church and its teaching,” said Hampilos.

The Office of General Counsel is responsible for safeguarding the University’s legal interests and managing all of its legal affairs. In her new role as assistant general counsel, Hampilos will assist in providing legal services in furtherance of the University’s objectives, while also remaining faithful to the university’s mission, vision and values.

Hampilos has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. Hampilos serves as a board member of the Dallas chapter of the St. Thomas More Society and is a Blackstone Legal Fellow. She and her husband, Bennett, enjoy cooking, playing tennis and traveling.
