IRVING, TX (May 25, 2023) — Professor of Management J. Lee Whittington, Ph.D., was recently appointed dean of the Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business (COB) at the University of Dallas.
“I am honored and humbled to lead the Gupta College of Business,” Whittington said. “We have an outstanding team of faculty and staff, and I look forward to working with them as we take the next steps in our long history of providing an excellent business education to our students.”
In addition to his faculty role as a professor of management, Whittington formerly served as the founding director of Gupta COB doctoral programs. He focuses his teaching, research and consulting on organizational behavior and spiritual leadership.
“Dr. Whittington is the right person to lead the Gupta College of Business,” said Provost Matthias Vorwerk, Ph.D. “He has a long-standing record of excellence as an administrative leader, scholar, teacher and entrepreneur, and has been instrumental in the redesign undertaken by the college of its profile and program offerings. I have high hopes for Dr. Whittington’s tenure as dean and for the future of the Gupta College of Business.”
UD President Jonathan J. Sanford, Ph.D., expressed confidence in Whittington as well.

Whittington has published three books, including “Biblical Perspectives on Leadership and Organizations” and “Enhancing Employee Engagement: An Evidence-Based Approach,” which he authored with fellow professors Simone Meskelis, DBA ’17, Enoch Asare, DBA ’09, and Sri Beldona, Ph.D.
