IRVING, Texas (Sept. 18, 2023) — The University of Dallas announces the release of the much-anticipated second season of The Quest, a documentary-style miniseries on EWTN that draws on stories from Scripture, history and literature to explore the Christian life as a narrative of joyful courage.

Produced by University of Dallas Productions and directed by UD professor and award-winning screenwriter Shannon Valenzuela, PhD, BA ’00, The Quest: The Way of Beauty is a collaborative effort of UD faculty in several disciplines, including art, theology, modern languages and literature.

“It’s my hope that The Quest offers encouragement for the pilgrimage journey of the Christian life, and that it helps us to see that the end of all wisdom is a deeper encounter with God,” Valenzuela said.

The series is meant to answer the silent cry of America’s morally starved colleges and culture, as University President Jonathan J. Sanford, PhD, writes in an article for the National Catholic Register.

“The Quest seeks to remind us that we are all on a beautiful if perilous journey, seeking to understand better our purpose and own unique calling in today’s culture,” Sanford states.

This second season of The Quest was filmed at UD’s Eugene Constantin campus just outside of Rome and at landmarks and churches around the Eternal City. The five episodes follow five themes of Christian life: “Incarnation,” “Pilgrimage,” “Creation,” “Imitation” and “Sanctuary.” The first season of The Quest is airing again now on EWTN on Thursdays at 5 p.m. EST. The second season will premiere on October 12 and run weekly.
