From 'Command & Control' to 'Coach & Develop'
In the new era of collaboration and leveraging employee knowledge across the organization, the use of influence and emotional intelligence has replaced the traditional 'command & control' approach to 'getting work done through others.' As a manager, learn how to create a new leadership orientation for giving feedback on performance, inviting conversations on professional/career development and building effective relationships for learning between team members and peers.
Workshop Information:
This two-day workshop will be held on two consecutive Fridays in September utilizing the Zoom platform. Students are required to have Internet access, and use a web camera and microphone to participate in the online live sessions. This equipment is not provided by the University.

Meet the Facilitators
Ben Dilla, PhD
Affiliate Assistant Professor, Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business
Dr. Ben Dilla is Affiliate Assistant Professor of Management and Director, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program, in the Gupta College of Business at The University of Dallas. He is also Managing Director and Executive Coach with Bold Leader Development (BLD LLC). He has 20 years of coaching experience and works primarily with accomplished professionals who want to enhance their leadership and influence skills for greater effectiveness in working with others. Ben is a Board Certified Coach (BCC), a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, and completed the Coach Certification Program with Coach Academy International.
Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Sciences & Leadership from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his M.S. and PhD in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. His academic credentials and teaching experience give him deep understanding of leadership and management theory, research, tools and techniques to draw upon as a coach and facilitator.
Ben served in the U.S. Air Force as a Behavioral Scientist, providing education, training, and Organizational Development consulting services. He has 20 years of corporate experience in a variety of industries including healthcare, financial services, transportation, retail, and technology. He is also an active member of the local Dallas-Fort Worth Organizational Development Network (ODN) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF) North Texas chapter.
Ben is certified on a variety of assessment tools including CliftonStrengths, DISC, MCORE, the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Styles Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and the Hogan Personality Inventory.
Ben coaches with a focus on practical knowledge, drive for success, and strong personal values; with clear future vision, he helps clients connect ideas with action, and he promotes continuous improvement.

Judith (Jude) Olson, PhD, PCC
Affiliate Assistant Professor, Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business
Jude has over 25 years’ experience as a coach, organizational consultant, and facilitator with Fortune 100 companies. She is an accredited, certified coach with the International Coaching Federation.
As Head Coach and Senior Consultant in Organization and Leadership Development with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Fort Worth, Texas for 17 years, she was recognized for bringing innovation in consulting with senior management on major culture change initiatives, knowledge management, collaborative teaming, organization design and executive coaching. Her primary client was the F-35 Lightning II leadership team during its first 13 years of startup.
Jude’s background includes being the SVP for Drake Beam Morin, Inc., a global career and change consulting firm, with P&L responsibilities for local and regional offices.
In private practice since 2001, Jude has coached over 100 individuals including senior and middle managers, Directors and VP’s in the retail, manufacturing, oil and gas and healthcare industries. Her clients include: Alcon Laboratories, BNSF, Bell Helicopter, Baker Corp, Cook Children’s Health Care System, L3 Technologies, Lockheed Martin, TCU EMBA program.
A native of Pennsylvania, she earned a B.S. in Journalism and M.Ed in Counseling Psychology from Temple University; and a PhD in Human Organization Systems from Fielding Graduate University. She has been published in multiple books and journals as an expert in Organization Development, Leadership Development, Executive Transition, Executive Emotional Intelligence.
Jude is certified to administer the certifications: Voices360°, via EDGE™, MBTI Step II, and Hogan Leadership Suite.
