Welcome to the Magic in the Metroplex Participants' Page!

We at the University of Dallas, SMU, TCU and Austin College are looking forward to having you visit our campuses. We thank you in advance for taking the time away from your school and students to learn about our universities. 

Please review the information on this page in its entirety! This site is designed to be your “one stop shop” for all event related information. However, we ask that you continue to check your email, as the University of Dallas will also be communicating with you throughout the coming months leading up to the event.

To reserve your spot in the program, please fill out the participant questionnaire below. 

 

Hotel and Lodging Information

We are happy for you to be our guest at the The Adolphus hotel (we will be making your arrangements; accommodations based on double-occupancy). If you request a single room on the Participant Questionnaire, the hotel will bill you individually for the additional rate of $99.50 per night, plus tax.

Roommate selections will become available after all participants have registered. Look out for an email from michaelp@udallas.edu for information on how to request your roommate. 

Arrival and Departure Information

Arrive Sunday, March 4, 2018. Hotel check-in and our event registration (separate table in the main lobby) begins at 3:00 p.m. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m.

Depart Wednesday, March 7, 2018. You should plan to travel home after the tour of Dallas on Wednesday. Please do not book a flight that leaves before 1:00 p.m.

Airport/Flight Information

  • Dallas Love Field (DAL): Southwest Airlines hub with select gates for Delta, United and Virgin America; located approx. 5 miles from the host hotel.
  • DFW International Airport: Most airlines available; located approx. 28 miles from host hotel. 

Ground Transportation

We recommend taking a taxi or using Uber/Lyft from either airport to the host hotel. Please get a receipt and turn it in to us with your other travel expenses.

Driving Information

If you choose to drive to Dallas, we will reimburse you up to $350 for your mileage to/from the hotel/home and we will pay for hotel self-parking.

Sightseeing in DFW

To sight-see around the metroplex, you will need to come in a day early or stay a day later. The hotel will give you the reduced rate of $199 + fees/taxes per night (which you must pay for on your own). You may get this rate three days prior to and three days after our program. If you would like to add a day to your reservation, please contact Michael Probus at michaelp@udallas.edu or 972-265-5825.

Attire

Dress for the entire program is business casual. Please wear comfortable shoes since you will do quote a bit of walking. We recommend packing an umbrella, Texas spring weather is very unpredictable.  

Travel Reimbursement

We will reimburse you up to $350 for your economy travel expenses. (This means you purchase your own airfare, do not delay!) We will also provide you with transportation service to/from the airport/hotel. IMPORTANT: Reimbursements will only be given to those who:

  • participate in the entire 4-day program and all 4 campus visits, and
  • provide us with a copy of your flight receipt (and baggage fee receipt, if applicable) or mileage count from driving to/from hotel. (Please provide us with your receipts or documentation at event registration on Sunday evening, instead of electronically prior to event. We need your signature in person.)
