We asked Anh a few questions about her ROI earned from pursuing her MBA at the University of Dallas.
Why did you decide to pursue your MBA?
I'm the child of an immigrant single mother. She gave the world to me, and when someone makes you their everything, you don't want to disappoint them. I wanted to pursue an MBA ultimately to push myself to new heights but also to make my mom proud of me.
Why spend all of this time and money to get your MBA?
An MBA opens doors in any industry. It prepares you for opportunities to move into upper management, change careers or even develop your understanding of how a business operates from a big picture perspective.
Tell me about your experience as a student at UD.
What I most enjoy about UD is the small and tight-knit community. I've been to a large university but being at a smaller school has been a much different experience. Here at UD my advisor knows me by name, my emails are usually answered within the same day and the overall environment feels like a family.
What do you enjoy most about the MBA program?
I enjoy the fact that UD's MBA program is so flexible and the teachers are so responsive. The fact that you can take your classes online or on-campus is such a great feature. It allows working individuals to balance school into the mix of their daily lives. The teachers are all highly qualified and have so much knowledge to share. I love that I get to interact with different people, different cultures, and each of my classmates have different life stories to tell.
What about the program, has it helped you meet your goals?
I definitely believe that my MBA program is going to help me achieve my goals. My main focus while in graduate school is to learn more about the business process and open doors for career advancement. I have learned about the thought process behind some of today's most groundbreaking leadership decisions.
Have you been able to use what you have learned yet?
I was surprised to find how much of what I learned in class could be used at work in such a short amount of time. In class we learn everything from operations, to finances, to management, all of which have opened my eyes to better understand the kind of business decisions I see being made every day.
Why did you choose UD, why not a different school?
Because UD is located in Irving, it made getting to class in the evenings easy and convenient. The wide range of concentrations speaks volumes about UD's dedication to being on the forefront of business education. Each program offered by the college is in response to growing needs across several industries.
