The University of Dallas offers  the Master of Arts in Theology and the Master of Theology. The MA and MTh in theology at the University of Dallas explores the masters of the Catholic Tradition with intellectual rigor and enthusiastic orthodoxy. Students plumb the depths of Scripture, trace dogmatic and theological developments, and explore the true path to virtue, holiness and happiness with God.

The MTh in Theology is ideal for those who desire to gain a wide knowledge in Theology through a stress on coursework rather than a large research component. Comprehensive exams are based simply on the coursework the student chooses from available offerings.

Master of Theology: 30 credit hours 

Coursework: 30 credit hours

The coursework must reflect a comprehensive approach; so, at least 3 credits must be earned in each of the following areas: biblical, historical, systematic, and moral. A maximum of twelve credits may be earned in 5000 level courses. Six credits may be transferred, with the recommendation of the Chairman, from a graduate institution toward the graduate credits.

Additional Stipulations

Some background in philosophy in the case of the M.Th. applicants is required. These requirements may be waived if the applicant demonstrates competency in philosophy.

A background in theology will prove valuable for students; however, our experience has shown that determination, hard work, intellectual ability, as well as some theological prerequisites, make for solid success for students without such background.
