We are so excited for you to join our incoming class of faithful scholars! This page contains most of the info you'll need so you can check it at your leisure and prepare you for your arrival to campus.
First and foremost, make sure you know how to log into your new UDallas email address! Email is the primary mode of communication for your summer paperwork, and UDallas will be corresponding with you via your new @udallas.edu email address. Please get in the habit of checking that regularly! (You should have received an email soon after your deposit with login information. Look for a message with the subject line "Your personal UD email.")
The housing process (which includes selecting a roommate) will be completed through our eRezLife portal, which you will find in your UDallas Banner Web page. (This is just a sample of what you'll see on Banner). eRez lets you fill out a roommate profile, build a roommate group and potentially choose a roommate. You'll also find your housing contract in eRez. You can always email studentaffairs@udallas.edu with eRez questions. In you inbox, the eRez email subject line looks exactly like this: UD - eRezLife Campus Housing ProgramIf you are a local commuting student, you will fill out the commuter form in eRezLife.
You can login to your UD Status portal and click on the Student Life link to see what forms you will need to fill out. I encourage you to get started on your health form (this requires a doctor’s appointment and is due July 1). If you have questions about how to complete the health form, I encourage you to reach out to our health clinic at udhealthclinic@udallas.edu for guidance! Also, if you plan on staying on your parents' health insurance plan, you will need to complete an Insurance Waiver . Once you complete this form, the $1,900 UD insurance bill will be removed from your account. Finally, you will need to fill out the FERPA waiver, which gives us permission to release your personal information (grades, etc...) to your parents.
Your student ID number is the 900 number you have received in multiple emails. Keep this number handy (or memorize it!) for ease of completing your forms this summer.
For your first semester only, you will not register for your classes until orientation. Instead, a course selection survey will be sent to you by Dr. Andrews via email in mid-June or early July. Please respond to this survey with alacrity so that our academic dean can create a first semester course schedule for you. This survey will ask you about your intended major (although it’s totally okay to be “undecided!”), proficiency in certain subjects, potential credit from dual credit classes and AP exams, preferred professors, class interests, and more. With this information, you will be scheduled for a course load that fits your intended major (if decided) and enrolls you in the proper Core curriculum courses. You will get a preliminary schedule in late July/early August. When you arrive at orientation, you will have your "final" schedule in your move-in packet and your academic advisor's name. You will have the chance to meet with your advisor during orientation, and then, you will be able to tweak your schedule before classes begin.
After you have graduated from high school (Congrats!), make sure to have your final high school transcript sent to UD. This needs to have a date of graduation and an official signature, as well as your final cumulative GPA. (Please know that we will NOT use your final gpa to reevaluate your merit scholarship). If you have taken dual credit while in high school, you can have your official transcripts sent from the awarding institution's registrar's office to UDallas. The University's mailing address is listed in the signature of this message. Click here for a general overview of which courses are likely or not likely to transfer in for UD CORE credit. Our Transfer Counselor, German Lopez, handles dual credit evaluations in conjunction with the Dean's Office. He will be sending an email with more detailed information on dual credit evaluations and how to receive them - please keep an eye out for his correspondence if you took dual credit classes in high school and are wondering how they will transfer to UDallas. If you took an AP/IB exam, make sure you have your scores sent to UD as well. Here’s information on how to send scores, and here’s information on what credit you could earn with your scores.
Your first bill will be sent to you in early-June, with payment arrangements due by August 1. To make sure that the charges on your first bill are correct, please make sure to complete the following. You can read all about setting up a five, four, or three month payment plan via our Student Account Services page.
Still looking for more scholarships?
Be sure to save the date for Freshman Move-In Day! All freshmen will move into their residence halls in the morning on Friday, August 22. Orientation will run from Friday, August 22 to Tuesday, August 26. The Office of Student Life will send you a detailed orientation schedule on July 17th.
Need merch? Check out the UDallas Bookstore. Need books? Yes, of course you will. And you may worry that since you won't get your schedule until August you won't have time before class starts. But you will. And since so many of our Core classes are classics, it will not be hard to find new and used books to rent or to buy.
When you receive information about signing up for something called Bank Mobile, it's not a scam. It is the resource we use to provide students refunds should a refund be necessary. It's free and safe.
