Rome Campus
Dan and Margie Cruse Rome Scholarship
Former Trustees Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cruse Jr., were among UD’s first students – Mr. Cruse
graduated in 1961 cum laude, and Mrs. Cruse graduated in 1962. On January 16, 2007,
the consulting firm of Spencer Stuart honored Dan's 30 years of service and leadership
by establishing the Dan and Margie Cruse Endowed Scholarship at the University of
Dallas. The Dan and Margie Cruse Rome Scholarship exists to assist a Rome student
each semester who exhibits financial need, campus leadership, and a commitment to
personal growth. Today, the scholarship continues their legacy and, in a special way,
the late Mrs. Cruse, as it echoes the love that they shared for the University of
Dallas.
The Fougerousse Convivium Fund
The Fougerousse Convivium Fund transports students beyond the classroom by providing
support for additional lectures, tours and convivial gatherings throughout the year
to enhance the Rome experience in the spirit of Jim Fougerousse, who passed away in
February 2021.
Lisa (Fougerousse), BA ’90, and Jeff, BA ’86, Mobus launched the fund on the anniversary of his passing in February 2022 to help enrich the experience of future Romers through programming provided by the Director of the Rome campus.
You may read the obituary provided by Lisa Mobus, BA '90, daughter of Jim Fougerousse.
Rome Experience Scholarship
The Rome Experience Scholarship provides financial support for students to experience
the richness of our Rome Program who otherwise would not be able to due to financial
constraints. The University of Dallas Rome Program has been changing lives for more
than 50 years with a unique curriculum that combines intensive study of art, architecture,
history, literature, theology and philosophy with travel that transports students
to the very places where Western civilization first flourished and where Catholic
intellectual and spiritual traditions continue to flourish today.
Your gift to the Rome Experience Scholarship helps close the funding gap for students who might otherwise not be able to take part in this transformational experience.
