The Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts offers both the Master of Arts in Classics and the Master of Classics. Rigorous in its immersion in linguistics, the degree requires at least five courses in one or both languages at the graduate level. Supplementary courses may be taken outside of those taught by the Classics Department, wherein the reading is done in English, but are appropriate for students who desire to expand their acquaintance with classical texts.
Courses must be completed at the 5000 level or above. Reading knowledge of one or both languages sufficient to do work at the 5000 level is prerequisite.
At least 15 credit hours must be in Greek or Latin courses or both; nine may be in related fields wherein the reading is done in translation.
The thesis requirement comprises 6 credit hours.
Comprehensive examination must passed in the final semester before the degree is granted.
