*Additional Content-Area Requirement for Middle School (4-8) Certification:Students pursuing Middle School (4-8) certification must also complete 15 semester hours in their specific teaching field (e.g., Mathematics 4-8, Science 4-8, English Language Arts & Reading 4-8, Social Studies 4-8, etc.).
*Admission to the Education Major / Educator Preparation Program (EPP)Students pursuing EC-6 or Middle School (4-8) certification must complete all Teaching Concentration coursework before applying for admission to the Education Major and the Educator Preparation Program’s Clinical Teaching phase. Admission constitutes formal declaration of the Education Major.
Admission is not automatic upon completion of Teaching Concentration coursework and requires the following:
Students who complete the Teaching Concentration but are not admitted to the Education Major/EPP will have satisfied the requirements of the Teaching Concentration and may apply that coursework toward graduation without Texas certification.
