Costs and Fees
The Summer Rome Program has a tiered pricing schedule. Students that complete an application by the January 15 application deadline are eligible for a discounted program rate. For Summer 2025, Sessions 1 and 2 cost $8,997 at the discounted rate and $9,997 at the regular rate. Session 3 (full summer) cost $15,935 at the discounted rate and $17,435 at the regular rate. For a breakdown of costs and fees see here.
The fall/spring Rome semester costs approximately $7,000 more than a standard semester on the Irving campus. For a breakdown of Irving and Rome tuition costs please review the cost comparison sheet.
Rome Fee: All students pay a Rome Fee, which covers the Italian visa fee, Italian public health insurance, Italian permesso tax, book rental, Orientation, local transportation in Rome, and express mail of visas.
Tuition, Room and Board: Tuition is the same for Rome as for Irving. Rome room and board is slightly less than the standard Irving Room and Board. Commuters in Irving will have to factor in the additional cost of room and board when calculating their Rome costs.
Airfare: Students are required to fly with our group arranged travel to Rome. Group airfare is estimated at $1800 and will be added to students' tuition bills once pricing is confirmed with the travel agent.
Rome Program Trips Fee: This fee covers the costs of faculty-led trips to such destinations as Assisi, Pompeii, Florence, Venice and Greece. It also covers transportation costs of day trips and museum entrance fees for all the trips. This fee will be added to your tuition bill the semester the student goes to Rome.
Spending Money: The amount of money your student will need for their study abroad semester depends on where your student will travel and what they want to see and do. Our office recommends students aim to bring approximately $3,500 for spending money.
Payment Procedures: Payment procedures for Rome differ from those for an Irving semester. Students must either have paid their term bill in full or must have made payment arrangements with Student Account Services and be current with installment payments in order to receive clearance from the Bursar. Questions should be directed to bursar@udallas.edu.
Scholarships: University of Dallas students can apply for scholarships once they have been accepted to the program. Instructions for how to apply will be included in their status letter. Students will apply online submitting one application for all the various Rome specific scholarships. The Financial Aid Office will then review applications and award scholarships. Questions about aid should be directed to finaid@udallas.edu.
