Sister Clodovia Lockett, SSMN (Sister Clo) was a longtime UD Biology Professor and Chairwoman. This scholarship provides financial support to students in their senior year of the pre-med program at the University of Dallas.
Beloved for her clear-sighted advice and energetic support of her students, Sister Clo influenced generations of Texas doctors. In her two decades at UD, more than 90 percent of her 500 pre-med students were accepted into medical school.
After a brief stint in the corporate world, she joined the School Sisters of Notre Dame, but not before coming in second to Ginger Rogers in a Charleston contest. A Texas native, Sister Clo arrived at the University of Dallas in 1965 after earning a doctorate in biology from St. Louis University.
Beginning as a part-time professor, she rose to the position of Biology Department professor and chairwoman as well as health professions adviser.
Over the course of her career at UD, she was named a Piper Professor by the Minnie Piper Stevens Foundation for Excellence in Teaching and Research and received the King Fellow Award in 1984.
