Constantin First-Generation Scholarship

Supporting First-Generation College Students

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be current, full-time undergraduate University of Dallas students.
  2. Applicants must have submitted either a 2026-2027 FAFSA or a 2026-2027 TASFA and demonstrate financial need.
  3. Applicants must be first-generation college students; defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree in the United States.
  4. Applicants must have either been born in Texas or be current Texas residents.

Requirements:

In addition to the qualifications above, the student must complete the following steps to apply for this scholarship:

  1. Sign up to participate in First Gen Small Groups. 
  2. Accept the email invitation you have received to sign up for a FREE Optimal Work Premium Subscription and complete the inventory you are prompted to complete on the Optimal Work Website.
  3. By Friday, March 6th, join the March OptimalWork Challenge.
  4. Earn at least 150 points in the challenge by the end of March.
  5. Between now and Friday, March 27th, meet with Dr. Spring, Dr. Shelby, or Darcy Stubbs in the Academic Success Office to offer updates on how your semester is going.
  6. By Wednesday, April 15th, submit to financial aid a 300-word essay in which answer the following prompt:

What have you loved most about your time at UD, and what was the most insightful lesson you learned either from your visit to Academic Success or your experience in the March OptimalWork challenge?

Please upload your essay within the application form using either Word or pdf format.

Completing these tasks will count as your application for Scholarship Funding from the Constantin Foundation for the Fall of 2026, with the understanding that you will continue as a First Gen Small Group Participant throughout the academic year.
