Supporting First-Generation College Students

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be current, full-time undergraduate University of Dallas students.
  2. Applicants must have submitted either a 2026-2027 FAFSA or a 2026-2027 TASFA and demonstrate financial need.
  3. Applicants must be first-generation college students; defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree in the United States.
  4. Applicants must have either been born in Texas or be current Texas residents.

Requirements:

In addition to the qualifications above, the student must complete the following steps to apply for this scholarship:

  1. By Friday, October 9th, 2026, sign up to participate in First Gen Small Groups. 
  2. By Friday, October 9th, 2026 , accept the email invitation you have received to sign up for a FREE Optimal Work Premium Subscription.
  3. By Friday, October 9th, join the October OptimalWork Challenge. Students who participate as members of teams will be eligible for an additional $250 Spring scholarship, so long as they hit the individual minimum point threshold.   
  4. Earn at least 150 points in the October OptimalWork Challenge by October 23rd.
  5. Between now and Friday, October 30th, meet with Dr. Spring, Dr. Shelby, or Darcy Stubbs in the Academic Success Office to offer updates on how your semester is going.
  6. By Wednesday, November 4th, submit the application below including a 300-word essay in which you answer the following prompt:

What advice would you give to a current high school student considering attending the University of Dallas? What do you recognize about the University of Dallas that makes it a unique place? 

Please upload your essay within the application form using either Word or pdf format.

Completing these tasks will count as your application for scholarship funding from the Constantin Foundation for the spring of 2027, with the understanding that you will continue as a First Gen Small Group Participant throughout the academic year.
